EduVoices Student Wellbeing & Mental Health Awareness Campaign

The Directorate for Planning and Strategic Foresight within the Ministry for Education and Sport (MES) presents the EduVoices 2026 Student Wellbeing & Mental Health Awareness Campaign, a national initiative that places student voice at the centre of educational wellbeing and development.

EduVoices reflects a strategic commitment to embedding wellbeing as a core pillar of educational excellence in line with the national education strategy. Through the meaningful engagement of learners across all compulsory and post-secondary year groups, the initiative recognises students as active participants in shaping communities and their learning environments. It reinforces student-led reflection and creative expression through age-appropriate activities.

This campaign goes beyond awareness-raising. It empowers students to reflect, collaborate, and propose meaningful ideas that support wellbeing in schools and communities. The campaign focuses on two key outcomes:

  1. Amplifying student voice to identify what wellbeing means to learners.
  2. Promoting wellbeing across the school environment through innovative ideas, measures, spaces and resources, driven by the active and meaningful engagement of students.

The outcomes will inform future strategic direction and contribute to strengthening inclusive, safe, and wellbeing-centred practices across Maltese schools, while also supporting national efforts to reduce early leaving from education and training.

Significance

Schools play a vital role in fostering resilience, emotional literacy, belonging, and student agency. EduVoices promotes meaningful participation by giving students structured opportunities to express their perspectives and contribute solutions for positive change.

When students are heard, they demonstrate insight, creativity, and responsibility. This initiative supports a culture where education is co-created with learners in safe spaces for dialogue, innovation, and shared responsibility.

Participation

Students may participate individually or in groups, including as:

  • A class
  • A group within the same school
  • With support from a parent or guardian

All submissions must respond to the theme assigned to the relevant year group and may be submitted in creative formats such as drawings, posters, photos, collages, videos, poems, or digital storytelling.
